Turismo delle radici Acri

Il progetto vuole recuperare alcune case rustiche disabitate e riqualificarle, mantenendo per quanto possibile inalterate le strutture principali e l’aspetto esterno. Si tratta di un progetto ispirato dall’amore per il territorio e nato dal desiderio di dare nuova vita agli edifici rustici: perché proprio questi edifici sono testimoni di una realtà e di una cultura che rischiano di andare perse e di essere dimenticate, con un conseguente danno per la memoria storica della società moderna. Altro motore del progetto è stato quello di offrire agli acresi che vivono all’estero la possibilità di riscoprire il territorio di origine delle loro famiglie, ospiti nei luoghi che un tempo hanno visto come abitanti i loro nonni.

Le strutture da riqualificare si trovano nella zona di Acri:un luogo incantato alle porte del Parco Nazionale della Sila, riserva della Biosfera UNESCO. La riqualificazione permetterà di dare nuova vita agli edifici rustici, per cui può essere pensata in futuro una destinazione turistico – ricettiva. Un nuovo modo di vivere il turismo, fatto di luoghi dove immergersi in un’esperienza inclusiva, capace di creare un rapporto speciale con le ricchezze del territorio, storiche-culturali, ambientali e sociali – a contatto con la comunità locale e con le sue tradizioni, arti e misteri – per uno stile di vita sostenibile e salutare.

Elena was so wonderful with us, helping to connect with relatives and taking us to the hospital/cathedral where my grandmother was born. Acri is such a beautiful town and Elena helped us see and experience the beauty of it all! Their B&B is absolutely gorgeous and has plenty of rooms and space for larger gatherings. It is outside of town and there are lots of turns and windy road to get there, but the seclusion and beauty are worth it for those looking for a relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle. She is very welcoming, and she and her parents grow and raise all sorts of Calabrian goodies on their property. But, Elena's love of the region's history, religious community and genealogy -- and her desire to solve family history mysteries! -- was what really made our stay the best ever. With her friends and other connections in town, she was able to introduce us to several distant cousins that took others in our line days to find. Thank you again, Elena, for the wonderful stay.

I could give Elena and her B&B Al Tetto Rosso a rating of as many stars as there are in the sky I would! To get to the B&B you drive up winding roads carved into the beautiful Acri mountainside with foliage all around. It was early November so the trees were rich with colors! The drive alone is breathtaking as you travel up to an altitude of about (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) feet where you can literally see the arch and heel of Italy's 'boot.' Not to mention the amount of stars you can see up there is something truly incredible and a must see for any star gazer! The Place itself is a beautiful, homey, and immaculate bed and breakfast on the second floor, above Elena's home. It features 5 bedrooms, two shared bathrooms, a kitchen with all new appliances, a dining area where you are served breakfast each morning, and a common area with a big comfortable couch and two matching arm chairs that's off from the kitchen. I have stayed at B&B Tetto Rosso several times and it is always a wonderful experience. My first visit was in 2018, when I went to Acri for the first time in order to do some research and document gathering for my family tree and my citizenship quest. At first I was unsure if I'd made the right decision, staying a bit out of the town in the country -- but now I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else because this place is quiet, comfortable, and gives a great sense of authentic daily life in Calabria. It's a converted family home, very comfortable, and I have slept very well there, every time! Elena is the perfect host -- kind, helpful, organized, and she really cares about her guests. She is also a wonderful tour guide -- not only has she shown me the highlights of Acri, but she has also helped me discover my family roots. She located and took me to my ancestral homes and important places, introduced me to distant counties, and helped me locate and get official verification ...
